Planting seed paper with wildflowers is just one of the many things that the Coop Concept will be doing in the summer of 2024!
Seed paper is, “Made from recycled paper that is embedded with wildflower seeds, these sheets of paper can be planted directly in the ground, where they will germinate and grow into a colorful display of wildflowers.”
Seed paper is an eco-friendly way to add flowers to one’s garden. Additionally it attracts pollinators, which are good for the environment. The steps are quite easy,
1. Choose a sunny spot in your garden or yard for planting your wildflower seed paper.
2. Prepare the soil by digging a hole that is about twice the size of the seed paper.
3. Add a few handfuls of compost to the soil to improve drainage and nutrient content.
4. Moisten the soil with water.
5. Place the seed paper in the hole, and gently press it down so that it is in contact with the soil.
6. Cover the seed paper with a thin layer of soil.
7. Water the seed paper thoroughly.
8. Keep the soil moist until the seeds germinate and the seedlings begin to grow.
The Coop Concept will be making seed paper and donating them, as well as many other things to various public places and non-profits this summer. Also, we will be maintaining our garden space at the Chambers Elementary School garden.
This is just one activity that the Coop Concept will be doing in the summer of 2024!
