while continuing to find new ways to blend traditional and digital mediums to create works that are bittersweet and evoke a sense of nostalgia.
Pulling from their struggles with grief, gender identity, sexuality and mental health, Burch aims to produce pieces that provide insight to their innermost thoughts and turmoil. Family, nostalgia for their childhood and the aches and pains of adulthood influences the memory-like quality in their pieces.
"The work in my show “Lorelai’s Orchard” is a cumulation of pieces I have made while attending SUNY Oswego. The show is a celebration of the 4 years of work I have put into developing my art, my craft and myself. As well as celebrating the support from my family, friends, teacher and professors who helped me get to this point. The title “Lorelai’s Orchard” comes from “Lorelai apple of my eye” which my dad used to call me when I was little. My orchard is me, my pieces and ideas that are still growing, which I tirelessly tend to."
