The COOP Concept’s Greenhouse

The Coop Concept’s greenhouse is an ongoing project spearheaded by Tina Dierna, who created the house to store The COOP Concept plants and materials when not in use. The coolest part about this project is that it creates and highlights community, quickly!

The majority of the materials used to create it were wood and windows, supplied free of charge from the local Buy Nothing Kingston/Rosendale community. Tina hired her neighbor to put a gravel pad in her yard and this cool little structure took locals by surprise. People started to drive up, ask questions and engage in conversation with our Founder about the experience.

Windows, most of the wood and her shelves were all free and recycled from the community. Things Tina did not use were donated back to the community for their use. She now has a place to store items from The COOP that have been sitting in her home office and making room for more creative projects with the youth she works with.

Creating this 10 by 10 green house on her own, with the help of her life partner, Bill allowed them to create the space they needed for both The COOP and their personal gardening needs. They purchased solar lights and fans to create air flow and lighting as well as a way to collect water from the natural spring that runs through their property.

Tina plans to bring this knowledge and experience to the youth she works with, while also teaching them about indoor gardening and DIY projects this summer.

The best part about it, it is 100% off-grid!
