Bee motels, bird houses, and garden boxes and beds are just some of the exciting things that the Coop Concept has in store for summer 2024!
Bee hotels are structures for bees to live in, “What materials do you need to make a bee hotel? You can make one using an empty plastic bottle with the top half cut off and the bottle top left intact.
Then, add some nesting material and place it under a roofed spot facing the east to receive adequate sunlight.” They are relatively easy to make, and they help pollinate areas.
There are multiple materials to create bee hotels with, from bamboo tubes, to drilled logs. Bees are most active during summer and spring.
Bird houses are similar structures to bee hotels. Bird houses are buildings for birds to come in and feed. They are slightly more difficult to make than bee hotels. One will have to gather wood, measure it, cut it into the correct pieces, glue it, and many other things. Bird houses will be created and auctioned off to whoever wants one from the Coop Concept!
Garden beds are tiny boxes full of soil to keep plants and other things in! Lowe’s says, “This project can maximize your backyard garden space, give you better control over the soil, reduce soil compaction and make caring for your plants easier.”
The steps are to plan one’s garden site, measure and cut wood, assemble the box/bed, then add soil and plants.
These are the things that the Coop Concept will create and donate to various public places and nonprofits! The Coop Concept will also be maintaining their garden space this summer as well!
