About the event
In this hands-on printmaking workshop, youth will learn the art of linocut printmaking while earning volunteer hours and giving back to the community. Participants will design, carve, and print their own original linocut blocks, then use them to create hand-printed tea towels and greeting cards.
All items created during the workshop will be donated to Fly The COOP, Inc. and sold at local markets to help sustain the organization’s mission. Proceeds directly support youth scholarships, paid internships, and community-based projects in partnership with schools and local non-profits.
No prior art or printmaking experience is needed. This workshop emphasizes creativity, patience, and craftsmanship while showing youth how art can be a powerful tool for community impact.
Youth will earn volunteer hours while:
Learning the basics of linocut design, carving, and safe tool use
Exploring pattern, repetition, and negative space in printmaking
